Hidden away in the heart of one of the treasures of the Montagne de Reims, the Premier Cru village of Ludes, Raphaël and Vincent Bérêche continue to reach new heights. With Raphaël responsible for the style of the wines and Vincent taking care of the vines, they make a formidable team, as only the very best French vineyards can produce.
Their vision and commitment influence a whole generation of young winegrowers and help place Champagne on the world map.
Their approach to winemaking has more in common with still wine production than champagne. The cuvées are vinified in oak and corks replace the crown caps to add depth and allow the wines to breathe. The finished product has marked vinous qualities and a truly authentic flavour.
Blend: 60% Pinot Noir - 30% Chardonnay - 5% Pinot Meunier - 5% Coteaux Champenois red wine. Slow fermentation in casks, aged on the lees, at least 36 months sur lattes in our cellars, second fermentation under natural cork. This cuvée’s low dosage (3g/L - Extra Brut category) lets its intense fruity aromas shine through. A truly great, crisp, fruity Rosé champagne.
Blend: 30% Chardonnay - 35% Pinot Noir - 35% Pinot Meunier, with 30% reserve wines each year, all aged in demi-muids (600-litre oak casks). For three generations the Bérêche Brothers have been holding back 2/3 of the best casks as a perpetual reserve. Slow fermentation in casks and small vats, aged on the lees for 41 months, second fermentation under natural cork. Reflet d’Antan has a unique vinosity, opulence, abundance and a signature chalky finish.
Blend: 100% Pinot Meunier - Rive Gauche is made from grapes grown in a single parcel - “Maisonselle” (Mareuil le Port) - planted to Pinot Meunier in 1969 on the sandy clay soils of the Marne Valley. Slow fermentation in casks which have been used between 2 and 5 times previously. Bottled under natural cork and cellar-aged on the lees for 32 months. This Champagne drinks particularly well with charcuterie.
A charming cuvée with density, elegance and saline depth. Blend: 30% Chardonnay - 35% Pinot Noir - 35% Pinot Meunier, with 30% reserve wines added each year. Slow fermentation in casks and small vats, aged on the lees and cellar-aged sur lattes for 24 to 36 months. A superbly balanced champagne!
